Intention
Change.
Here we are busy with the holiday season and I'm talking about "change."
I was wondering why I picked that out of my daily intention cards. Who
really wants to worry or even think about that? But, maybe the holiday
season is not just about gift buying, it is about reflecting on the
past year, on the good, bad and ugly things that happened. Plus, of
course, the fun and joyour things that happened. Then, in spending a
little time reflecting, you maydiscover a way to think about something
that should be changed or that you'd like to change. Remember, change
is an opportunity for growth. Without change we stay stuck. As my dear
husband says "Make Change Your Friend!" So, perhaps you would
like to make a change in the way you give gifts. Maybe it's time to
make them yourself or simplify the gift giving so that it will have
more meaning.
So,
what will you change about yourself or your environment during this

Intention
Exercise: CHANGE
This
is an exercise to get back in touch with the positive
CHANGES that you may want to have happen NOW!
Please have a pad and pen close by so
you can record your thougts or answers.
| It
is time to set the stage by putting on some soft music. Take the
phone off the hook, turn off your cell phone and BE FULLY PRESENT
for this exercise. This exercise is all about CHANGE and
how it can happen effortlessly.
What
is the #1 thing you would like to change about you right now?
What
is keeping you from achieving that change? What are the obstacles?
Are
you willing to deal with just ONE part of the change? Sometimes
we are very busy and we want everything to happen RIGHT NOW!
How about, taking it a little slower and think about what you
can do tomorrow?
Can
you commit yourself to that one little part? If so - say to
yourself - I am committed to:
Close
your eyes and use your senses to imagine that you are achieving
that 1 small step in your "I am changing________________"
project. "I am committed to it."
Keeping
your eyes closed, feel the change, hear the change, sense the
change feel the passion, know and believe in that change that
is happening NOW effortlessly.

the Home Front
Thanksgiving
was great. I am stuffed and not sure when I want to see another turkey!
I started my Magic of Intention Circles and
they have been going quite well. It's been an exciting month - busy
with workshops and circles. The biggest news I have is in the Orphan
Connection section of this newsletter.I was shocked with news that brought
memories of my past. . Now, we're getting ready for the holiday gift
buying, giving, dashing around and seeing friends.

Orphan Connection is a foundation
that is dedicated to honoring orphans who are making a difference thus
creating Mentor Orphans. We are always looking for stories of orphans

Stories of orphans who are making a difference NOW!
On
November 8, 2004, I received a message from Harry, another of my biological
brothers, that our real mother passed away on October 25, 2004. I was
shocked, for I had assumed that she had already passed away. I
had not heard from nor spoken to Harry for at least 10 years. He just
disappeared from everyone's life. And now comes this very shocking and
strange news. Harry no longer speaks English nor does he write in English
so he is having to use a translator. I asked him why I was not told
that she was dying and that I did not have a chance for closure? He
never answered that question. I asked him about her funeral and in the
translation he said that she was buried anonymously. When I saw those
words, I thought to myself "how is someone buried anonymously?"
I believe now that the translator did not translate his message to me
properly because he was there at her funeral. But she did die a
pauper. She lived alone in the same apartment for at least 40 years,
had few friends with the exception of two cats. She very seldom ventured
out of her immediate surroundings and her only entertainment was television.
Because she was found injured in the Berlin bombings, the government
took care of her for the rest of her life. She had excellent medical
care as well, comma but lived a lonely life. With this exchange,
I experienced many, many feelings and went back into my mind to
the few times that I met my mother. It was never a pleasant trip for
she was not mentally capable of engaging in a conversation for any length
of time. Basically, she was a bit crazy, which I also attribute
to the war.
I
asked Harry how he was doing and this was his answer:
"About
my (life):
I live alone and withdrawn, have to nobody contact and look also for
none. Now I am the man who I to never be wanted. I am like my mother,
have grey hair, eyeglasses, my teeth are wrong and my co-inhabitants
are two lovely cats.
Some years I did not have any income and got social welfare assistance.
But now I work in a hospital in the administration, have my own office
and an little Appartement, its o.k."
This
is when I really broke down and started crying. Crying because
I felt so much sadness and emptiness in Harry's answer. Sadness because
my mother lived such a lonely life. And sad and shocking feelings,
knowing that it could have been me. I could have been
the one left in the orphanage only to wind up like her.
IT
COULD HAVE BEEN ME!.
Have your ever said that to yourself? "It could have been me?"
And
then I cried because I was grateful for the door that opened to an opportunity
for a better way life. My life has not been easy, but it is most certainly
better!
This is why I know that we all have meaning and purpose in our lives.
Just because we may not be (well?) known or feel that we're not appreciated,
doesn't mean that we are less than who we are which is an AMAZING PERSON!
This revelation made me realize even more than ever how grateful I am,
how far I've come and how far I will go! I mentioned this story to my
Expressive Arts Therapy Instructor and she very gently gave me wonderful
advice:
"...it's ok to look back
and wonder, but don't stare.
It's in the forward that you will grow."
