Broken But Not Broken
Wow - what a month I've had!
I don't know about you, but it's hard to describe what all has transpired. Lots of lessons for me.
As I'm learning, I try my best to be alert and aware of possible answers to my present state of sadness, chaos, joy, and shock!
As I was walking my dog, Meadow, I heard a strange noise. It sounded like a crackling noise. I kept wondering what that strange noise was about. I looked around and then I saw it. Our lovely White Spruce had a large branch that was breaking.... but - not completely. That limb is fiercely hanging onto the trunk of the tree! (See the picture below)
My first thought was
"It's Broken but NOT Broken"
The Spirit within cannot be broken.
I then thought about all the things that have happened to me in my life and I'm still hanging in there.
The Spirit of Me and You is not broken.
I also see the tree limb as change happening slowly but surely.
I think that the best expression of what I'm saying can be heard in Martina McBride's Greatest Hits album which has the song "Broken Wing"
(I highly recommend this album! It's the best!)

The first time I heard it, I just broke down and cried as that's how I felt at the time...
P.S. By the way, I recently broke my foot but NOT MY SPIRIT!
P.S.S. My very good friend Edith Odiwo sent this comment to me about the concept of Broken and not Broken. She gave me permission to quote her:
"Its amazing how nature teaches us a lot about life.
Sometimes we feel really
"broken" by all that is happening around us.
However because we are flexible
we do not get completely broken.
The tree trunk must be somewhat flexible at
the point where it is not completely broken."
Thank you Edith for your Wisdom!
LAST THOUGHT:
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO...
realize that YOUR SPIRIT IS NOT BROKEN
This Day my intention is to keep a journal in which I document the times I feel my spirit could be broken and yet it's not. Name your journal "Broken and not Broken"
This day my spirit says to me _______________________ because my spirit is not broken.
This day my spirit says to me _______________________ because my spirit is not broken.
This day my spirit says to me _______________________ because my spirit is not broken.
This day my spirit says to me _______________________ because my spirit is not broken.
Remember: have fun with your Broken but not Broken Journal.
