Change is Happening!
It is inevitable that change happens...
This summer has proven to me the value of change. The funny thing is that sometimes we don't want any changes in our lives no matter what's going on.
Then we get the "thump on the head" in the most unexpected way. I got mine by breaking my foot.
I've had to spend a lot of time figuring out what the symbolism of "breaking my foot" was. Feet, to me, represents grounding, stability, transportation, support, etc.
So here I am, less mobile, depending on others, trying to be independent, getting depressed because I "can't do what I'm used to doing," Wanting to be strong while, inside, I'm terribly depressed.
So, what is it that I have to change? And what is it that you have to change?
Change can be scary — it can also mean new opportunities. But when you're in a corner, it's best to accept change and go with the flow.
Can you do that? I can (after spending time at my pity party) because I know there is a reason for everything.
Here's a short, but effective, change exercise:
Ask yourself, what do I need to change to make my life better?
Symbolically, what will change mean to me?
Face your fears about change and move forward. Can you do that?
What I have learned is that change is going to happen no matter what! You can't stop it but you can adjust, learn from it, move forward, let go of what needs to be released, see life differently, and be grateful!
I'm grateful for my broken foot - I really am! I've learned that- even though I'm not that handicapped, I certainly sympathize with people who ARE handicapped. For example:
- Doors are really heavy
- Handicapped parking is sometimes too far away
- Starbucks is not set up for handicapped people, except for a few that have drive-up windows
- All Post Offices should be required to offer drive-up drops-offs for the handicapped, and everyone else as well. In Austin, Texas, there are many drive-up drop-offs so one doesn't have to get out.
- There should be designated employees to help handicapped shoppers in stores.
This is just a small list - I'm sure you can add to it. But making a list won't make a difference - it has to go beyond that.
I see life a little differently now. I appreciate what others are going through that is worse than what I'm having to deal with. Will it make a difference once my broken foot is healed? YES! Absolutely! I've learned a lot which means I've change a lot!
LAST THOUGHT:
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO REALIZE THAT...
change has to happen and will happen and is happening!
This Day my intention is to keep a journal in which I document the times I feel that change is happening.
This day change is happening because
